Deep Thoughts About a Classic Musical Variety Show and a Folk Song About Sentimentality

If you recall, back around 1975, "The Lawrence Welk Show" presented us with a wonderfully-wholesome family music variety program, that we can now reminisce about and say ~ 'those were the days.. my friend; and who knew (that in this day-in-age), that they wouldn't make 'em like they used to, regarding that kind of entertainment, now, do they? And how coincidental is it, that they sang the folk song "Those Were the Days" on the show (in the posted video, below)?

"The Lawrence Welk Show" seemed so wholesome and family-friendly, with so much talent and not-to-mention, beauty; with the singers ages ranging from very young to pretty mature. Every Saturday night, Mr. Welk's musical entertainment production allowed for us viewers to sit-back and enjoy the beauty, the skits, the scenery (with a playful and elegant atmosphere), that made for a wonderful music variety hour, that we can now, reflect upon with great nostalgia; just as the performers on the show, gathered together in 1975 and sang "Those Were the Days" in such a coincidental way, perhaps, not realizing that at that specific moment, future viewers, like you or I, could reflect upon with great nostalgia and say: yes; my friend, those (really were) indeed, the days in the 1950's; the 60'; 70's and even 1980's that we can now say, are nostalgically wonderful, in such a delightful and classic way, regarding the times of "The Lawrence Welk Show" and the music and dance memories of the program.

So, now, here is the video of the show in 1975; with the performers nostalgically singing about singing and dancing in a song, which coincidentally is in regards to nostalgia.. and now, you have been reading about "The Lawrence Welk Show" in this blog post about those wonderful nostalgic times. How coincidental and sentimental is that, my friend?

On the surface, "Those Were The Days" is simply an old folk song (composed in the early 1900's) about sentimentality. However, looking deeper into the song performed on "The Lawrence Welk Show" (in 1975) and how we could take the performance of it now, the song may have a double-backed-meaning, if we analyze and look deeply into it.

So, here is an analogy of the 1975 performance, and how coincidental we could see it, that it could reflect the same feeling of sentimentality in this day-in-age because it was sung about the very same sentimentality, that the singers initially performed on the show in 1975. ~

(1.) "The Lawrence Welk Show" performers were singing a song which was written about the nostalgic singing and dancing of (a past) earlier time; which, (2.) coincidentally fits with the (present) nostalgic singing and dancing of "The Lawrence Welk Show" ~ because, it may coincidentally reflect our current nostalgic feeling of "The Lawrence Welk Show" of our past.

What are your thoughts about the above analogy, or opinion about "The Lawrence Welk Show" that may give an idea as to the depth of your nostalgia for it. (In other words ~ Did you dig it in the 50's, the 60's, the 70's, or do you feel sentimental about it, for all time?)

Also.. Here is Mary Hopkin's 1968 version of the song "Those Were The Days" ~
